World Wrestling Entertainment star Paul Bearer has died at the age of 58. The manager-promoter, whose real name was William Alvin Moody, passed away on Tuesday in Mobile, Ala.
Moody joined WWE in the 1990s and adopted the character of Paul Bearer, a ghostly manager bearing an urn, managing stars including his famed protégé The Undertaker. He played the role on and off until last year.
A statement from the WWE reads, "WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of William Moody, aka Paul Bearer. Moody made his WWE debut in 1991 as the manager of The Undertaker and went on to become a memorable part of WWE over the course of the next 20 years. Our deepest condolences go out to Moody's family, friends and fans."
